Brazil / SmartPix
Learn how to integrate SmartPix for seamless recurring on demand payments.
What is SmartPix?
SmartPix is a tokenized payment solution offered by dLocal in Brazil, designed to reduce friction in Pix transactions by requiring only a single user authorization during setup. It enables features like recurring payments, one-click purchases, and event-based payments (on demand) through Pix, leveraging Open Finance and dLocal's licenses in Brazil.
With SmartPix, your customers complete a one-time authorization that lets them pay easy whenever they need, and also allows you to initiate recurring payments (subscriptions) and event-based transactions (ad-hoc charges).
This streamlines the experience, reducing friction and interruptions for your customers. SmartPix leverages tokenized payments and Open Finance, ensuring secure, compliant transactions that work seamlessly across all participating banks, making it easier for customers to adopt and use.
Integrating SmartPix: user authorization flows
SmartPix offers two flexible integration options for one-time user enrollment:
Type | Description | Business case example |
---|---|---|
Authorization checkout managed by merchant | Enables full customization of the user journey by embedding the authorization flow within the merchant’s own platform. | Ideal for large platforms that require complete control over the user interface and onboarding process. For example, a subscription-based service can fully tailor screens for setting payment limits and displaying regulatory notices within their app. |
Authorization checkout managed by dLocal | Simplifies integration by sending users to a pre-built dLocal authorization flow, handling regulatory and compliance steps. | Best suited for smaller businesses needing fast deployment with minimal development. For instance, an e-commerce site can quickly enable recurring Pix payments by redirecting users to dLocal’s hosted UI. |
